Bench Scales listed here are a separate part of a weighing system. These scales can be matched up with an indicator that can complete your weighing solution. Bench scales are usually less than 24"x24" and usually less than 1000lb capacity. Most of them are considered "single point" scales. They have one load cell in the middle and are generally accurate and relatively high resolution. Typical considerations in choosing a bench scale are; is it legal for
trade?, is it wash down?, is it in a hostile environment?, will it see a lot of overload or impact?, is it in an explosive environment?, does it contact directly with food? We offer bench scales from a variety of manufactures that meet any or all these requirements.
The best bench scales have very strong construction that will give accurate weight readings regardless of where you place your weight and will have features to prevent load cell damage from overload. Many scales have adjustable stops that will prevent the weigh pan from dropping too low and bending the load cell. Even a stronger design is one where the top plate uses springs to isolate the load cell from shock. Cheap scales use inferior materials and do not provide the design structure or materials to prevent damage and insure accuracy.
